Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku)

Forest Bathing (or Shinrin-yoku as it is known in Japan) allows for the opportunity to slow down and immerse yourself in nature.  Take time to relax under the canopy of trees and engage in mindfulness practices to awaken your senses. This can have many positive benefits for your physical and mental health and help to deepen your connection with the natural world.

Alexandra Sandys will be guiding Forest Bathing in the garden this season.

Silent Space

We have a designated Silent Space among the Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).  These magnificent trees were planted in 1988 and have formed a secluded and shaded space ideal for enjoying a time of reflection.  Alternatively, we invite you to find your own Silent Space on one of the many benches sited in the glades throughout the garden.  This is an ideal place to turn off your phone, connect with nature and enjoy some time away from the busy world.
